Healthy Travel Snacks

A question I get asked so frequently….healthy travel snacks!!

Here is a list of my favorites:

SALTY

  • Lesser Than Evil popcorn

  • Mary’s Gone Crackers

  • Roasted/salted pistachios (shell on)

  • Raw or roasted/salted almonds

  • Healthy jerky

  • GimMe seaweed snacks

  • Vital Choice wild salmon jerky

  • Parm Crisps

SWEET

  • Dried mango

  • 70% (or higher) dark chocolate bars (Eating Evolved, Hu, Alter Eco are all great brands)

  • “These Peanuts Go On A Date" bars (Trader Joe’s)

  • Bananas (a meal with a peel, as my mom says)

  • Sunbutter packets

Here are a few general guidelines I use when considering packaged foods:

  • What kind of oil is used? Extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil are best. Other oils (safflower, rapeseed, etc.) tend to be inflammatory.

  • Are preservatives, fillers used? Examples: carageenan, xantham gum

  • Opt for as real as possible (grain crackers, like Mary’s Gone Crackers, instead of processed crackers like Goldfish)
